What makes a great bareboat sailing vacation?

Over the years I have learned that a great bareboat charter vacation is more than great sailing, though that certainly doesn’t hurt.  Some view their bareboat charter as a mobile resort with waterfront views, others as an on-water camping and water adventure experience,  for most it’s probably a bit of both.

When chartering with my friends Lisa and Marcello we look to maximize our time on the water, love cooking on the boat, and prefer to be as far away from civilization as possible.  With that in mind here are some general insights gained over the last 10 years in the Mediterranean and other bareboating meccas.
