A desert paradise may be the best way to describe this bareboating location. The Sea of Cortez rubbing up against the Sonora desert makes one imagine what Death Valley California must have been when the inland sea filled the valley.

Day 5 - Espiritu Santo ( Partida Caleta) (f)Leaving La Paz in Baja Sur, Mexico you’ll find secluded desert islands with sandy beaches, high cliffs anchorages, and abundant wildlife. But, the highlight just might be swimming with wild sea lions at los Isolottes or spotting whales (we were not so lucky on the latter).

I joined Lisa, Marcello, and Fran for one week just after Thanksgiving holiday 2008. Weather was fantastic, none of the heat of the spring, summer, and fall yet comfortable enough to swim. Our trip took us from La Paz as far north as the lagoon and mangroves at Isola San Jose. Wind conditions were pretty much calm after the northerly that blew the first day, so unfortunately, we motored for most of the trip. All the same, it was an extremely relaxing experience.
