Sardinia Insights: Before Departing  Provisions/Living Aboard  Sailing Stuff

Capo TeuladaOur one week charter along the southern coast of Sardinia in August of 2009 took us from Cagliari west to the Island of San Pietro. There were wonderful ruins at Nora, incredible snorkeling off Isola Piano, and incredible scenery everywhere. This trip had it all excellent sailing conditions, good anchorages (free-swing on anchor), beautiful coastlines and water color, great snorkeling visibility, and, needless to say, we were in Italy so the food and provisioning were wonderful.

Area Insight Overview – We chartered from Cagliari Sailing Charters a small local operation that was very professional.  Our boat was a Delphi 37 made in Poland, it seemed a Beneteau knock off (see Area Insight – Sailing Stuff review).  Getting to Caglliari and marina access was easy.  Generally, the navigation was straight foward and anchorages had great holding, but, were open to sea lanes causing some bounce during the evenings.
